Ahh, Roma. It should be written in every person’s destiny that they shall travel to the Eternal City at least once in their lifetime, to experience the romance, the history and the charm that is the capital of Italy. A short break in Rome may seem like a compromise, but in reality, even a few days is enough to experience a wonderful slice of life so different to one’s own existence. To sit and ponder life’s mysteries while enjoying affogato in a piazza, or to throw coins in the Fontana di Trevi and wish for a return to this magical place, are moments that justify making the journey for a short break in Rome.
Whether you are Catholic, Jewish or Buddhist, stopping by the Vatican both inspires and humbles; if not for the religious significance, then to marvel at the historical nature. Exploring the Coliseum, you will learn about the magnificent gladiators who fought for fame and glory there. Back on the streets, you will dodge haphazard fleets of Fiats and Ferraris, whilst checking out the fashionistas who seem to loiter at every corner to see and be seen. Even a short break in Rome will transplant untold fascination into your heart.
Accommodation choices vary from tiny hole-in-the-wall overnighters to grand hotels that you won’t want to leave, even to go sightseeing. Depending on the time of year you choose to take your short break in Rome, you could save significant sums of money, or you could be at a disadvantage. Similarly, planning in advance could serve you well, whereas sometimes, last minute deals are irresistibly affordable.

On May 30, 2006, Celebrity Century emerged from a five-week dry dock in which she underwent an aggressive restoration. Sailing since 1995, the goal of the revamp was to bring Century up to date and make her more luxurious than ever. Many favorites that are currently found on newer Celebrity ships were added to Century’s deck plan, and some additional surprises were also incorporated.
New Dining Options
Most notably, a new dining option was added to Century: Murano. Adorned with sparkling chandeliers handcrafted from Murano glass in jewel-toned colors, Murano bears a theme exploration of the New World.
Michel Roux is the culinary mastermind behind Murano and its first-at-sea tableside cooking, carving and flambé. The entire setting will be one that sets passengers’ senses on edge as they see, smell and taste the experience.
Grand Restaurant has received a thorough refurbishment and recaptured an essence of grandeur, glamour and sophistication. A favorite of most diners who sailed onboard Century prior to her makeover, Grand Restaurant has retained her dedication to impeccable service and truly world-class menus.
Another first for Celebrity is the addition of a 76-seat sushi bar. Many guests will want to indulge in this popular form of dining, and they can do so in an atmosphere specifically created to reflect the Asian trends. Read the rest of this entry »
When visiting a place like Italy, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. There’s so much to see and do, where do you even begin? Oftentimes it’s best to focus on just one area at a time, whether it be for the whole vacation or just a few days. There are many areas of Italy that make for good vacation destinations, but one of the best of these is Tuscany. You’ll not regret a few days spent on one of the luxurious Tuscany villas in the area.
Travelling around Tuscany from the luxury villas is very easy, especially if you rent a car. You can also get around by train to other parts of the country. Travelling through Italy is beautiful, as you get to see all sorts of local scenery and views that aren’t to be missed.
Most Popular Tourist Attractions
If you want the full tourist experience from Tuscany, then there are a few must-see places. First of all, Florence. Florence is the capital of Tuscany, and is a city worth visiting for a few reasons. The architecture and design of the city as a whole is very lovely, and one of the biggest features it boasts is the works of art by many artists from years past. The statues of Venus and David by Botticelli and Michelangelo are hosted in the city, as well as many other masterpieces.
And while you’re in Tuscany, you can’t miss one of Italy’s most iconic structures: the leaning tower of Pisa. This location is only about an hour’s train ride from Florence, and there you’ll find tourists from all around soaking up the sights. Your friends will definitely wonder at you if you don’t stop over here while in Tuscany.
A third famous Tuscany landmark is the city of Siena. Siena is extremely rich in its historical and cultural value, and the narrow streets, buildings, and city as a whole will give you a taste of real historical Italian life.
Other Things and Places
You don’t have to stick to the most touristy places, of course, as there are other places to go that will be just as amazing but less crowded. You can go wine-tasting in Chianti and see the splendid views from the vineyards. You can visit the towers of San Gimignano, some of which are about a thousand years old. You can even check out the local cafes and restaurants around the area of the one of the luxury villas you’re renting, and get the input and advice of the locals while feasting on the incredible local cuisine.
